Our teaching programme provides techniques and strategies for outstanding 11+ English preparation tailored for the Sutton selective schools :
Year 4
The children begin their 11+ preparation for English in small groups. Our year 4 classes are small to ensure that each child receives the support and attention he/she needs. We focus on delivering a sound programme in 11+ English which ensures that the children gain knowledge and techniques in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, cloze and spelling skills.
Your child will be taught by a highly experienced English tutor, specialising in 11+ English and efficient support staff.
Year 5
In this crucial year, children are taught on a 1:1 basis.
As well as continuing with the areas covered in year 4, we increase focus on Essay and creative writing, exam techniques and time management. The children regularly practise acquired skills with carefully selected test papers, under exam conditions.
The papers are:
- Multiple Choice papers suited to the first phase of the test.
- Standard format suitable for the second phase of the test.
- Essays suitable for Creative Writing.
The creative writing intensive booster class is a course designed to help those pupils who find creative writing challenging. It is conducted in small groups. This course runs from April to August.
